− | Crates were added in the Custom Contraptions update. Crates are the only way to get unique tiers of items, some with special abilities. Crates themselves have six (maybe seven, the d mentioned marble crates) tiers: cardboard, glass, wooden, bronze, iron/steel, and gold. Cardboard crates have 2 object slots, Glass and Wooden crates have 3 object slots, Iron/Steel crates have 4, and Golden crates contain a whopping 8. A Wooden crate guarantees a tier I item, an Iron/Steel crate guarantees both a tier II and a tier I item, and Golden crates contain all three tiers of items, but like with the other crates, there is only one of each guranteed. Crates also have random slots, which can contain anything from more scrap, cakes, and even sometimes more parts. You get 3 crates daily, and they appear at around 12:00 in the time zone that you downloaded the game in. The time of crate arrival will not be affected by your timezone, so this can be exploited to get your crates early (albeit expensively). If you are impatient or have some money to spare, you can buy crates in the shop as well. All crates but wooden cost money, and the wooden crate only costs Snout Coins, but it costs 120 in total so it may take a while to save up that much. |

If a part is yielded, a set amount of scrap will replace the loot based on the rarity of the part.
