Bellows Wheels TNT Boxes

Wheels are vehicle parts in Bad Piggies. They are what allows a vehicle to move forward and backward.

Overview[]

One of the parts designed for everyday use, wheels are fitted to the undercarriage of all kinds of road contraptions so that they can roll smoothly over terrain. The wheels come in a few variations that each are made of different material and style.

Wooden Wheel[]

The first wheel that the player uses, and the most basic of all types in terms of structure and durability. It is lightweight and thus a thoughtful move to put it on reinforced vehicles that move quickly.

  • The wheel itself is not perfectly circular, however this seems to be purely visual and doesn't affect the game.
  • The wheel is identical in every aspect to the powered wheel, except for weight, ability to drive, and availability.
Variations[]
  • One star (Common): The default design repainted in shades of blue, green and pink.
  • Two stars (Rare): A design with spokes, blue and red plastic wheels with a picture of a duck and one made of gingerbread.
  • Three stars (Epic): A black wheel with a star, one with a redesigned mount and red rim and one painted in a rainbow livery.

Metal Wheel[]

A more durable and heavier type as compared to the wooden wheels, which is good for downhill speed.

  • Along with the tiny wheel, this wheel has no animation when rolling.
  • It is somewhat flexible, which can be seen when rolling over rocky terrain.
  • The hitbox is fairly true to its visual shape, which actually works to its disadvantage, as these two qualities make getting stuck significantly easier.
    • However, when making larger and/or more powerful (as in the torque and power of engines involved) contraptions, it is crucial to prevent powered or plunger wheels from clogging up and losing speed, or ripping your contraption to shreds.
  • This wheel seems to have the least rolling resistance out of all wheels in the game.
Variations[]
  • One-star: The default design with a copper-alloy mount and a new design with a red mount.
  • Two-star: Black spoked wheel and one made of bone.
  • Three-star: Golden wheel and a flower wheel.

Powered Wheel[]

  • Powered wheels are made of the same material as standard metal wheels. As their purpose implies, putting them on any vehicle with an engine inside will make it controllable under the power of all engines that are in a linked system. Putting Ross inside will make the vehicle be controlled under his own energy.
Variations[]
  • One-star: A design made of a copper alloy and another with a red mount.
  • Two-star: A design painted black with grooved tires and one made of bone.
  • Three-star: A design made of gold and a flower.

Tiny/Shopping Cart Wheel[]

  • A smaller counterpart of the metal wheel, thus less likely to fall off, because of its size. This wheel is more often used behind the vehicle, mostly for planes, so that the plane is easily angled upwards, to lessen the time for it to take off.
  • These wheels appear to be more springy than others, which can cause many things to happen:
    • For starters, it makes them them good for their intended use, that being planes, as their springiness can enable easier landings with less breaks. First appeared on level 3-17.
    • While it may prevent breaking where other wheels would have snapped, the physics are sloppily programmed:
      • Seeing small wheels snap off the contraption instantly when you start the level is not uncommon.
      • In certain contraptions, particularly heavy ones which feature Helicopter Rotors, small wheel can start to wobble for seemingly no reason. In the worst of cases, this can take up so much processing power that the physics of the game get altered, and it is a useful exploit if you need to get better physics for crates or stars.
      • If too much weight is put on the tiny wheel, it will bend to the point of being inside of the crate its rooted to. Shortly hereafter, it will snap back in place, this time beneath the ground. This is easiest to replicate in field of dreams, as all you need is weight.
      • Almost all of these things will fry your CPU and drain your battery, as each individual calculation performed by a tiny wheel will affect your entire contraption by fractions of degrees and movement.
    • Instead of crashing into walls, tiny wheels will often just fly straight through them, ending up inside of the level structure. This can be easily replicated with a fast vehicle or TNT.
    • If you rotate an object along the tiny wheel (for example by using king pig or his Golden counterpart on top of a powered wheel), you can mess the game up severely. Hitboxes can glitch out, the sound cuts out, and the game will randomly cut back to the build menu (likely becuase it thinks Ross get's flung out of the map).
  • One-star variations include a bronze mount and what is probably an eyeball.
  • Two-star variations include a pink wheel and a red mount.
  • Three-star variations include a golden star wheel and a flower.
  • An alien variation of this part exists. This variation can be powered just like a Powered Wheel, though it's far faster. Interestingly, while the normal small wheel weighs less than the other wheels, it's alien counterpart weighs the same as the powered wheel.

Plunger/Suction Cup Wheels[]

  • A stickier counterpart of the Powered Wheel, this wheel is able to move the vehicle onto terrain other vehicles could not without falling, such as a ceiling or vertical walls.  In earlier updates, the wheel and the Plunger Gun's plungers would only stick to terrain, and would launch away player-placed objects (such as the vehicle itself.). This wheel is extremely important for the success of Rise and Swine and The Road to El Porkado levels. It first appeared on level 2-1.
  • The one-star variation of this wheel has a bronze mount and blue plungers.
  • The two-star variation of this wheel has a black mount and resembles an octopus tentacle.
  • The three-star variation of this wheel is golden.

Monster Truck Wheel[]

  • The largest of all the wheels, which was temporarily featured but later removed. It takes up twice as much space on the building grid as a normal wheel and is used for building offroad cars and jeeps.
  • This wheel appeared in the trailer to the Cake Race game mode but was never re-added, but can be used via mods such as Leading Edge.

Bugs[]

Main article: Bugs

  • King Pig, when placed on top of a Suction Cup Wheel, will fly into the air along with the wheel. (Patched)
  • An open umbrella placed next to a Powered Wheel will cause the vehicle to fly into the air.
    • This no longer works with normal umbrellas, and the powered variant must be used instead. It must also be closed and reopened manually, as the bug does not work with the umbrella in its default state.
    • Below are two videos explaining the glitch:
